Welcome Studio Launch Party

Welcome Studio has launched! Two Thursdays back we kicked off with a party, and we are still buzzing with excitement from the night.

Over 150 people came and celebrated with us. Thank you to everyone who came out and made it such a fun time, who gave us their support, who danced with us and who bought a Welcome Studio print. Thanks to you we made over $3850! All of this money is going straight to House of Welcome to help them keep doing what they do best - supporting the needs of people who are refugees.

Jo Hill from House of Welcome spoke to us on the night about why it's so important to support people who come to Australia seeking asylum. She also spoke about some of the amazing work House of Welcome does to break down the barriers for people settling in to their new community. This work includes providing food and financial assistance, organising emergency housing, running training and skills workshops and providing casework and legal help.

We are incredibly humbled by the massive turnout, and are encouraged to see so many people who have joined with us to support and welcome refugees and asylum seekers in Australia.

A big thank you to Fox Holmes, Liam Roffe and Adam Newling for the beautiful tunes, Young Henrys for their beers, The Mechanic for the space, Gemmcraft’s delicious cakes (which were gone in seconds), and Fine Art Imaging for our beautiful prints.

We are looking forward to watching Welcome Studio grow, so stay tuned as we continue to welcome and support refugees and asylum seekers in Australia. Come check out our prints we are selling online and we’ll be in touch soon with more information about our Art Workshops.

Thank you The Paper Fox for all the great photos of the night.
